The Israelis are aware that media plays a powerful role especially when it comes to shining a light on stories, so they prevent activists and other pioneers to tell the truth, a prominent analyst says.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Ken O’keefe, international activist, to share his opinion on this issue.
Marrying the person you love and living freely with them may be a basic right in most democratic countries but apparently it’s not always the case in Israel. Israeli-Palestinian families say they face daily discrimination and risk being separated altogether. And the country’s insistance that it’s ‘only protecting national security’ has few people convinced.
Israel should put an end to pointedly hawkish political discourse towards Iran because a preemptive assault might cost it a loss of global legitimacy,’ – warns Elan Baruch, a former Israeli ambassador to South Africa. RT talked to Mr. Baruch to discuss the position his country occupies on today’s worldwide political stage.
Vandals also attacked the Hand in Hand Center for Jewish-Arab Education elementary school in the Patt neighborhood, where they spray painted “Kahane was right” and “death to Arabs” on the wall in large letters.
In a high-stakes gamble, an imprisoned member of a Palestinian terrorist group has waged a hunger strike for almost two months, trying to draw attention to Israel’s military justice system.
Adnan, a member of the armed terrorist group Islamic Jihad, has lost 60 pounds (27 kilograms) and now weighs about 140 pounds (63 kilograms). His skin is discolored, his hair has fallen out, he cannot walk, and he has been shackled to his bed, said lawyers and his wife Randa, who have seen him in a series of Israeli hospitals.
OK, I see the accusation that Adnan is allegedly “…a member of the armed terrorist group Islamic Jihad.” But where is the bloody proof he has hurt a flea?!? Apparently, that proof is no where to be found.
He has been imprisoned under Israeli “administrate detention”, which allows for indefinite detention without charges. So, let’s find out a little more about this “Palestinian Baddie”, shall we?!?
It is day 55 of Khader Adnan’s hunger strike. After pleas from a Twitter campaigns (#Dying2Live), and calls from human rights organizations, mainstream finally noticed the longest single-man hunger strike in history. The articles came on the same day as Adnan’s last military court appeal, where it will be decided today if his imprisonment without charge will be upheld. Ma’an News Agency reported the “special session” took place in an Israeli hospital, where Adnan is currently shackled to a bed. In addition to the unconventional court session, two days ago Israeli authorities also unexpectedly granted Adnan a 30-minute family visit, in which his wife witnessed her frail husband vomiting blood and said: ‘he couldn’t pick up our daughter. He has no strength in his arms.’ Each day, Khader was subjected to two three-hour interrogation sessions. Throughout the interrogation sessions, his hands were tied behind his back on a chair with a crooked back, causing extreme pain to his back. Khader notes that the interrogators would leave him sitting alone in the room for half an hour or more. Khader also suffered from additional ill-treatment. During the second week of interrogation, one interrogator pulled his beard so hard that it caused his hair to rip off. The same interrogator also took dirt from the bottom of his shoe and rubbed it on Khader’s mustache as a means of humiliation. On Friday evening 30 December 2011, Khader was transferred to Ramleh prison hospital because of his deteriorating health from his hunger strike. He was placed in isolation in the hospital, where he was subject to cold conditions and cockroaches throughout his cell. He has refused any medical examinations since 25 December, which was one week after he stopped eating and speaking. The prison director came to speak to Khader in order to intimidate him further and soldiers closed the upper part of his cell’s door to block any air circulation, commenting that they would “break him” eventually. To date, no one in a position of agency to release Adnan has made a public statement, other than confirming his internment.
And gee whiz, IDF: if the man is unable to walk, WHY THE FLIP IS HE SHACKLED TO HIS BED?!?!?
So, what we appear to have here is a baker, who is a graduate student in economics with a family, thrown in to Israeli detention for absolutely no damned good reason the Israelis can come up with.
If this man dies in Israeli detention, under current conditions, this could ignite a firestorm in the Palestinian community, and beyond against Israel.
Should this happen (and I sincerely hope it does not), I would encourage the Palestinian people right now, to invoke Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and Dr. Martin Luther King in a measured, and completely peaceful response. Peaceful confrontation is something the IDF doesn’t know how to deal with, except with brutality, and that will show the Israeli police and defense force to the world for what they truly are.
And trust me: there will be no way for the Israeli government to prevent their response to peaceful Palestinian protest to be seen – and condemned – from across the world.
Syndicated columnist and political commentator, Charles Krauthammer, appeared on FOX News over the weekend, addressing the issue of a possible Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities prior to the American general elections. He saw it as inevitable.
Memo to Charles Krauthammer: sir, I am aware of your personal story, the triumph over the physical trauma of your injuries, and your formidable intellectual gifts.
However, that having been said, using those gifts to create a causus belli for an Israel pre-emptive strike against Iran is both morally – and intellectually – dishonest in the extreme.
I would like to remind you, sir, that – unlike Iran – Israel refuses to become a signatory to the NNPT, has nuclear weapons, and refuses any inspections of its nuclear sites.
I would also like to remind you, sir, that all US aid to any countries which possess nuclear weapons is technically illegal, under the US’s Symington Amendment to the Foreign Appropriations Act and the Glenn Act.
To date, all of the IAEA’s inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities have demonstrated that absolutely no nuclear materials have been diverted for weapons’ purposes.
The level to which Iranian scientists have been enriching their uranium is only to 20%, necessary for producing medical isotopes. A nuclear weapon would take over 95% enrichment. So far, there is absolutely no evidence that this is taking place.
If this is not the case, please then provide the American people with the facts. But of course, you will not, because you cannot, because such alleged “facts” do not exist.
It confounds me that you would make the charge that ““I think Israel will strike because it cannot live under the threat of annihilation from Iran.”
And there you are, invoking one of the most allegedly controversial things that Iranian President Mahmoud Amedinejad never said.
The devil is in the detail, wiping Israel off the map suggests a physical genocidal assault, a literal population relocation or elimination akin to what the Nazis did. According to numerous different translations, Ahmadinejad never used the word “map,” instead his statement was in the context of time and applied to the Zionist regime occupying Jerusalem. Ahmadinejad was expressing his future hope that the Zionist regime in Israel would fall, not that Iran was going to physically annex the country and its population. To claim Ahmadinejad has issued a rallying cry to ethnically cleanse Israel is akin to saying that Churchill wanted to murder all Germans when he stated his desire to crush the Nazis. This is about the demise of a corrupt occupying power, not the deaths of millions of innocent people.
Mr. Krauthammer, I am rather amazed that you would resort to such a “big lie” technique, knowing it would ultimately come back to haunt you.Because if I understand the essence of what was said here, other thinking people will understand this as well.
Yes, Israel can start such an attack; but most probably not finish it even somewhat successfully without US military intervention.
“In practice, since 2009, the US military controls Israel’s Air Defense system, which is integrated into the US global missile defense system,” Michel Chossudovsky, the director of the Center for Research on Globalization, wrote in an article published on the Global Research website on Friday. “Under these circumstances, Israel cannot launch a war against Iran without the consent of Washington and the involvement of the Pentagon,” he added. The United States and Israel have repeatedly threatened Tehran with the “option” of a military strike based on the allegation, championed by Washington, Tel Aviv, and their allies, that Iran’s nuclear activities may comprise a covert military agenda.
I would like to strongly caution you, Mr. Krauthammer, that the American people have grown increasingly weary and restive regarding the continued costs in American blood and money which have been spent as a sacrifice upon the altar of potential Israeli hegemony in the Middle East, first with Iraq (remember; Israel’s former ‘existential threat’) and now, Iran.
I would also like to remind you, sir, that officials of both the Chinese and Russian government have gone on record stating that if Iran is attacked, these two nuclear-armed countries will defend Iran with their military assets.
So to recap, we have the potential for a global, thermonuclear war, courtesy of a pre-emptive Israeli strike against Iran, which hasn’t started a war in over 200 years, and definitely not since becoming an Islamic Republic in 1979. It’s nuclear weapons program has absolutely not been substantiated in fact.
And one final note, Mr. Krauthammer; as you are well aware, Iran is home to one of the largest components of Jewish people in the Middle East, outside of Israel. Any attack against Iran will surely kill numerous Jewish people as well. Is this an acceptable outcome for Israel, in the slaughtering of their fellow and sister Jews in Iran?!?
Or are they simply considered “unworthy of life” by the Israeli government, because they have refused to “make aliyah”, i.e., return “home” to Israel?!?
Palestinian youth have been manipulated through military arrests, according to the Defense for Children International, which launched its current campaign against such treatment in 2001. According to DCI children are arrested and used to incriminate other Palestinians through typically illegal or forged testifying, applying pressure to the communities of arrested youth to create subservience and fear, and to set an example out of those politically active, enticing entire communities to become fearful of exercising freedom of speech and assembly. And in some cases, youth are arrested and subdued into becoming informants for the Israeli military.
What is going on here is no mystery, on the part of the IDF; the world has known since the time of the Inquisition, that torture, physical or emotional, will not bring forward the truth, but a confession toward a pre-conceived result that the torturers wanted to hear.
And this is precisely what the IDF is doing to Palestinian children. Torture, sometimes physical, sometimes emotional, is applied to these kids until they crack, and create fanciful tales of what other young men in their villages are doing. And the second phase of that is to attempt to inculcate a sense of inferiority into these children, much as the “Jim Crow” laws of the American south attempted to create an atmosphere of fear and self-doubt for African Americans.
One would of thought that those in Israel who were descendents of those who suffered so greatly in the Holocaust, would have become poster children for humanity, democracy, and universal human rights.
Unfortunately, it appears that 21st century Israel has devolved into a wretchedly apartheid, self-proclaimed theocracy with nuclear weapons.
The U.S. and its Western allies charge Iran is producing atomic weapons. Iran says its program is meant to produce fuel for future nuclear power reactors and medical radioisotopes needed for cancer patients. This being the election year for the US President, a beleaguered Obama is likely to fall victim to the temptation of adventurism against Iran in a desperate bid to make himself palatable to domestic voters. There is every likelihood that this adventurism will fail. The other option is to let Israel do the dirty work and look the other way as it becomes the assailant against alleged Iranian nuclear sites. What the west and its client Israel are forgetting that Iran is neither Afghanistan nor Iraq and will not allow a walkover to either Israel or the US.
I would strongly caution the Obama administration that such a military strike against Iran could go very, very badly, because the US government doesn’t have the military troop strength, the manufacturing, or the money to insure a completely successful outcome of such a strike.
I would also mention that officials of both the Russian and Chinese leadership have gone on the record, stating that should Iran be attacked, that both nuclear-armed countries would support it in such a conflict.
What we have here is the potential for a global, thermonuclear war against a country which, to date, has not begun any military confrontation in the last 200 years, and certainly not since becoming an Islami Republic in 1979.
Also, none of the IAEA reports on Iran’s nuclear energy program have demonstrated, to date, that zero nuclear material has gone missing.
Here is a country attempting to do everything by the book, as an NNPT signatory, and is still getting slammed in the court of Western public opinion. Israel, on the other hand, refuses to join the NNPT, has nuclear weapons, and refuses to allow its nuclear sites to be inspected.
Israel is also cheerleading for an attack against Iran, stating that it is Israel’s “existential threat du jure”, to the point of feigning ambivalence, in terms of perhaps not letting the US know before any intended Israeli strike against Iran.
Should that unannounced Israeli strike happen, all financial and military US aid to Israel (already illegal under the Symington Amendment), should halt immediately, and no US military assistance should be given for such a military misadventure.
Let’s just sit this one out, and watch Israel defend itself against Russia, China, and Iran: this really might be worth watching!
Of course, such a scenario is as likely as that of pigs flying.
the US will, again, get caught up and pulled in, with American blood and money being placed as a sacrifice upon the altar of potential Israeli hegemony over the Middle East.
And if you want to know what THAT is going to look like, just ask a Palestinian!!

Ancient Israel is an invention of modern scholarship. The picture of a thriving Iron Age Jewish kingdom headed by David and Solomon is “a fiction”. The scholarly debate has been driven by a dominant “biblical discourse” fuelled by a tankful of “unspoken and unacknowledged” assumptions. The main effect has been “the silencing of Palestinian history”.
On the October 1983 Marine barracks truck bombing in Beirut, “the largest non-nuclear explosion in the history of warfare,” where, as Pfarrer recounts, “My SEAL team, we were in a bunker about 300 yards away.” As he writes on page 82 of SEAL Target Geronimo, “It is one of the ironies of history that the most emblematic weapon of Islamic terrorism, the truck bomb, was invented not by a Muslim fundamentalist but by a radical Jew, Menachem Begin.”
