PALESTINIAN ‘BAR MITZVAH’ PRESENT

When a Jewish boy turns 13 he becomes a man in the eyes of his community. When a Palestinian boy turns 13 he gets beat up by that same community.

Good Guns, Bad Guns? US arms in reach of Syria rebels

The US is setting up an international coalition aimed at supporting rebels in their struggle. The so-called “Friends of Democratic Syria” will involve countries willing to prop up the opposition, and pile more pressure on the regime. Direct military action is ruled out, but reports suggest British and Qatari special forces are already in the conflict zone. And while the US and its allies criticize Russia for supplying military hardware to Damascus, there are now calls from American lawmakers to arm the opposition. As RT’s Marina Portnaya reports, the region’s already been flooded with firepower made in the USA.

Dozens dead as rebel bomb wave rips Syria’s second city RussiaToday

Two explosions have hit Syria’s northern city of Aleppo, state-run TV said on Friday. The attack struck the security compounds, killing at least 28 people and wounding 175 The blasts were the first in Syria’s largest city. It has not been affected seriously by the Syrian uprising that began in March. Colonel Arif Hamood of the Free Syrian Army claimed responsibility for the two blasts that targeted military and security buildings in the city.

A suicide attack in Damascus killed 26 people last month. The UN says more than 5,400 people have been killed in the government’s crackdown on the uprising.

Russia is squaring up for a fight with America over Syria

Confirmation that the U.S. and its allies are studying their military options for helping the anti-Assad rebels in Syria is a worrying development on a number of levels, not least of which is the prospect of the West becoming embroiled in a direct confrontation with the Russians.

As I have argued before, I think the West – and that includes Britain – needs to proceed with great caution before it gets too closely involved in the Syrian crisis. As with the Libya situation last year, we still have no clear idea who the rebels are in Syria, or what their ultimate objective might be.

Anti terrorist Aleppo attacked- Russia will “use drastic measures”….

WP- Blasts hit security headquarters in Syrian city that has stood by Assad.

Another headline-Two blasts kill at least 25 in Assad stronghold of Aleppo, Syria

Those headlines sum up nicely exactly why Aleppo was struck in such a deadly fashion.

If you caught my post from yesterday, you would have known that the inhabitants of Aleppo came out in a big way to cheer the Russian Foreign Ministers visit. The veto at the UN. And to support their leadership.

To Syria’s NATO backed terrorists, this would have been an outrage! How dare they want to remain unscathed by terror. How dare they not want to be bombed to smithereens. The NATO backed terrorists are armed to the teeth and they mean business. Deadly business.

SYRIA: PREVENTING WAR: NATO’s Objective is to turn Syria into Another Iraq, a Quagmire of Ethnic and Sectarian Violence

[T]he reported “hundreds of Syrian activists” would have no particular reason or opportunity for being in Libya. Which means that the assault against the Russian diplomatic mission was a special operation pulled off by Western secret services. It is very reminiscent of the “stray” missile that hit the Chinese embassy in Belgrade during the NATO bombing campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999. The assault on the embassy is a blatant offense against Russia’s national security, which must be retaliated for adequately.

Why NDP (Canada’s official opposition party) silence on Palestine?

Palestine can illustrate the capacity of a politician to take a principled position and also the ability for grassroots activism to force politicians to act.

NDP leadership contender Thomas Mulcair, actively campaigning to move the NDP to the right, stated in 2008, “I am an ardent supporter of Israel in all situations and in all circumstances.” That statement was made as the Israeli siege on Gaza continued, as construction on the Israeli apartheid wall moved forward unabated in the West Bank (despite being condemned as illegal by the International Court of Justice), and as thousands of Palestinian political prisoners remained locked away in Israeli jails.

Mulcair’s comments are a clear attack on Palestinian human rights, providing support for Israeli war crimes committed against the Palestinian people. Now is the time to hold Mulcair accountable for these ruthless words on Palestine.

In stating unconditional support for Israel, Muclair aligns with right-wing, neo-colonial efforts to erase the Palestinian struggle from the map, in line with recent statements by U.S. Republican politician Newt Gingrich that “Palestinians are an invented people.”
