Israeli minister demands air, sea blockade on Iran

An Israeli cabinet minister Tuesday called on placing Iran under an air and sea blockade if it does not stop its presumed drive for nuclear arms.

“The time has come for the United States to place a clear ultimatum and deadline before Iran, and say that ‘if Iran does not stop its drive for nuclear weapons by such and such a date, an air and sea blockade must be imposed’,” Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said Tuesday in an interview with Israel Radio.

“We appreciate the cooperation between the US and us and the sanctions that have been imposed, but we expect to hear clearer statements,” Xinhua quoted Steinitz as saying.

Memo to Israeli Finance Minister Steinitz: I would very strongly caution you, sir, that thinking Americans have grown sick, tired, and angry at the constant Israeli demand for American blood, and American money to be sacrificed upon the altar of potential Israeli hegemony in the Middle East.

I would rather suggest to Finance Minster Steinitz, should he feel that such an air and sea blockade be so urgently placed against Iran, that the Israeli military imminently capable of doing so.

We do not wish to see, nor will we willingly tolerate, the maiming for life or killing of one more American military personnel to “neutralize” any more of Israel’s alleged “existential threats” in the Middle East.

One cheerful moment: Israel’s undeclared nukes get a mention on the BBC

One cheerful moment, on last night’s Newsnight. Jeremy Paxman actually challenged the Israeli Ambassador, who seemed keen to attack Iran, over Israel’s nuclear weapons. First time in years I heard such a thing on the BBC.

Then when the Israeli Ambassador replied “Israel is not the one threatening to attack other countries” Paxman replied “You just discussed attacking Iran”.

All of which is entirely obvious, but almost totally absent from broadcast media.

By conjuring the Holocaust, Netanyahu brought Israel closer to war with Iran

In his speech to the AIPAC conference Monday night Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu moved closer than ever to the point of no return en route to war with Iran.

The Holocaust talk has but one meaning: they force Israel to go to war and strike the Iranians. The justifications against an attack, weighty as those may be, turn to fumes when put up against the Warsaw Ghetto, Auschwitz, and Treblinka. No calculus of missiles falling on Tel Aviv, rising oil prices and economic crisis can hold water when compared to genocide.

Netanyahu is hungry for blood and money; American blood and money, to be specific, to be yet again sacrificed upon the altar of potential Israeli hegemony in the Middle East.

He has set his country, and ours, on the road to a war with horrendous potential unintended consequences.

I would very much like to strongly caution him about being very, very careful what he wishes for in this instance.

I would also like to remind him that Iranian leadership is many things, but stupid isn’t one of them. They would not dare to attack Israel, because they understand that it would be suicidal, on a national level, to attempt such an idiotic move.

El Al to Move Flights to IDF Base If Iran Attacks: Report

Israel’s national air carrier El Al will move its flights to military bases in the event of a war with Iran, according to the Hebrew-language Maariv newspaper.

Company executives reportedly met in an urgent discussion to deal with wartime scenarios as the Israeli government repeatedly warns that “time is running out” for a military attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

An El Al spokesman claimed that the report is “baseless” but did not say what the airline would do in case of war. He added that if a discussion of the subject had indeed been held, the company would not have commented on it.

Ben Gurion International Airport is located on the edge of the metropolitan Tel Aviv area, which would be a likely target by Iran in the event of war.

IF this story is true, it means that the execs at El Al have a bead on the Israeli timeline for war, and that timeline is very close at hand.

This story appears to be nothing more than propaganda to portray Iran as initiating this war. One possibility which should not be overlooked is of Israel faking an attack against either the US or Israel itself, to blame on Iran. But of course, common sense says, why would Iran do something that stupid?

Israeli state officials disappointed with Obama meeting

Israeli state officials were disappointed Tuesday with the results of the Netanyahu-Obama meeting at the White House on Monday. “There were no surprises,” a senior state official said. “It was clear from recent months that there are differences between ourselves and the Americans. We have different perspectives when it comes to the question of time and red lines.”

It was claimed that the Americans view the Iranian issue in the context of the upcoming presidential elections. “It’s a bad message for the issue and a good message for the Iranians,” a state official said.

Translation: Israel will bomb Iran sooner rather than later (or perhaps time the attack at the worst possible time for Obama in an election year), at which point the US military will be tasked with cleaning up the mess.

Please stop: your “deep concern” has gotten us nowhere

We know for a fact that US President Barack Obama can utter extremely strong words. We know it because he heard him yesterday being as assertive and as firm as any leader can possibly be. Practically groveling for Jewish votes, Obama put on his “I heart Israel” face and let out all the stops.

So,anyone can understand why we Palestinians just don’t want to hear it when Obama or any of his mouthpieces in the government express their “deep concern” for Israel’s gross violations against the Palestinians. It is not even “concern” in most cases but a nonchalance at best.

Netanyahu in AIPAC speech: Israel cannot afford to wait much longer on Iran

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at the AIPAC conference in Washington on Monday, called on the international community to acknowledge the fact that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.

“Amazingly, some people refuse to acknowledge that Iran’s goal is to develop nuclear weapons. You see, Iran claims that it’s enriching uranium to develop medical research. Yeah, right,” Netanyahu said.

“If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then what is it? That’s right, it’s a duck. But this duck is a nuclear duck and it’s time the world started calling a duck a duck,” he said.

Memo to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu: the international community cannot acknowledge that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, because “there is no there…there.”

To date, no IAEA inspection has found any nuclear material diverted for a weapons program. So, by claiming that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, are you calling the IAEA a collective bunch of idiots?!?

And sir, I would strongly caution you that Americans have grown sick, tired, and angry at the continual demand for American blood, and American money to be sacrificed upon the altar of ultimate potential Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. We have had enough, thank you very much, and understand clearly that you can handle yourself brilliantly, both militarily and financially, on your own.

We are painfully aware that in order to “neutralize” your former “existential threat” in the Middle East (Iraq being the threat du jure at that time), the US government sold the American people an absolute pack of lies as to why that war had to be fought. And of course, we all know just how brilliantly that turned out for the US. Let me see now; over a million Iraqis dead; thousands suffering from exposure to depleted uranium, which is manifesting as cancer and severe birth defects; thousands of Americans killed and maimed for life; we got kicked out of Iraq by the puppet government we had helped install, and on top of it, a trillion dollar sucker punch to the Federal budget.

All in all, sir, THAT little “neutralization” on Israel’s behalf didn’t actually go very well for the US. I do not expect, if the US attacks Iran, that things will go much better, and for the following reasons.

Unless there is a blitzkrieg attack, executed to perfection, the US cannot sustain a protracted war. The US government doesn’t have the troop strength, the financial capability, or the manufacturing capability to fight a war lasting for very long.

Added to that is the reality that government leaders of three nuclear armed countries have gone public in saying that if Iran is attacked, they will assist it militarily.

So what we have here is a scenario for a global thermonuclear war over an alleged Iranian weapons program which cannot be proven to exist.

Netanyahu and AIPAC, Beating the War Drum to Attack Iran

As many of you know, AIPAC is holding its annual conference this weekend at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to be the keynote speaker on Monday.

Sure to be on his agenda is Iran’s nuclear program with the ultimate fate of Israel hanging in the balance. Of course this is pure fabrication. Israel has nuclear weapons and the capability to defend itself. Meanwhile, Iran presents no threat, imminent or otherwise, to Israel.

Dear Mr. Neyanyahu. If you truly feel that you need to make war on Iran, help yourself. Here is a rifle, here is a parachute, here’s a helmet. We ran out of the desert camo but we have lots of left over bright orange jumpsuits from Abu Ghraib. Watch your step climbing into that transport aircraft, and we’ll call Tehran and tell them you are on your way to kick their butts all by yourself!

But after those whoppers you told us all about Saddams’ nuclear weapons, you will forgive us if we keep our children safe at home. Israel has a poor history of telling friend from foe and you might shoot them yourself!

Mordechai Vanunu brought his camera to work in late 1985, shortly before leaving his eight-year stint as a technician at Israel’s nuclear weapons factory at Dimona.

Acting on his conscience, he carefully took about 60 photos of the top-secret labs and unique production processes involved. When some of these photos were originally published in the London Sunday Times’ exposé, they confirmed his eyewitness testimony about the extent of Israel’s nuclear weapons program and revealed Israel to be one of the world’s top nuclear powers. To this day, the Israeli government refuses international inspection of Dimona and continues to deny the existence of its nuclear arsenal.

Revealed: how Israel offered to sell South Africa nuclear weapons

Secret South African documents reveal that Israel offered to sell nuclear warheads to the apartheid regime, providing the first official documentary evidence of the state’s possession of nuclear weapons.

The “top secret” minutes of meetings between senior officials from the two countries in 1975 show that South Africa’s defence minister, PW Botha, asked for the warheads and Shimon Peres, then Israel’s defence minister and now its president, responded by offering them “in three sizes”. The two men also signed a broad-ranging agreement governing military ties between the two countries that included a clause declaring that “the very existence of this agreement” was to remain secret.

Iran vs Israel: What The Media Wants You To Forget

The corporate media have been given their orders to throw the focus back on to Iran.

Here is a recap of what they are trying to make you forget.

1. Last Spring, Rose Gottemoeller, an assistant secretary of state and Washington’s chief nuclear arms negotiator, asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Israel refused.

2. The United Nations passed a resolution calling on Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.

3. The IAEA asked Israel to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to submit to inspections. Israel refused.

4. Iran’s formal notification to the IAEA of the planned construction of the backup fuel-rod facility underscores that Iran is playing by the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty which Iran has signed.

5. Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.

6. Contrary to face-saving claims, it appears that the US and Israel were both caught off guard by Iran’s announcement of a planned underground (to avoid being bombed) enrichment facility. The reasoning is simple. Had the US or Israel announced the existence of he new facility before Iran’s notified the IAEA, it would have put Iran on the defensive. As it is now, the US and Israel seem to be playing catch up, casting doubt on the veracity of Israel’s claims to \”know\” that Iran is a nuclear threat.

7. The IAEA and all 16 United States Intelligence Agencies are unanimous in agreement that Iran is not building and does not possess nuclear weapons.

8. In 1986, Mordachai Vanunu blew the whistle and provided photographs showing Israel’s clandestine nuclear weapons factory underneath the reactor at Dimona.

9. Israel made the same accusations against Iraq that it is making against Iran, leading up to Israel’s bombing of the power station at Osirik. Following the invasion of 2003, international experts examined the ruins of the power station at Osirik and found no evidence of a clandestine weapons factory in the rubble.

10. The United Nations has just released the Goldstone Report, a scathing report which accuses Israel of 37 specific war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza earlier this year. Israel has denounced the report as \”Anti-Semitic (even though Judge Goldstone is himself Jewish), and the United States will block the report from being referred to the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague, thereby making the US Government an accessory after-the-fact.

11. Recently revealed documents prove not only that Israel has nuclear weapos, but actually tried to sell some to Apartheid South Africa. Who else Israel approached to sell nuclear weapons remains an unasked question.

12. In 1965, Israel stole over 200-600 pounds of weapons-grade uranium from the United States.

13. Declassified documents from the former South African regime prove not only that Israel has had nuclear weapons for decades, but has tried to sell them to other countries!

We all need to be Joe Wilson right now. We need to stand up and scream, \”LIAR!\” at every politician and every talking media moron that is pushing this war in Iran. And we need to keep dong it until they get the message that we will not be deceived any more.

Israel wants to send your kids off to die in Iran, and YOU are the only one that can stop them.

U.S. Officials Believe Netanyahu Has Already Decided to Strike Iran

Channel 2 in Israel, sourcing a “senior American official”, says that the decision has already been made by the Israeli government to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Let us recall that Israel attacked Iraq’s nuclear power station at Orisak in 1961, even though again there was no evidence of a weapons program and more to the point, the reactor design was incapable of making weapons materials. And following the invasion of 2003, IAEA inspectors examined the remains of the Osirak power station and confirmed that there had never been any nuclear weapons facility underneath it, as Israel has underneath Dimona. As a side note, the 2003 invasion of Iraq was based on more claims by Israel of an Iraqi clandestine nuclear weapons program. Again, the claims were false.

So here we are again once more with Israel screaming about the Iranian nuclear thr3eat, and having been batting zero up until how why is anyone even bothering to listen to th3se habitual liars?

But Israel has decided to bomb Iran’s civilian power station based on nothing more than their paranoid delusion. This is, of course, an act of war, and Iran will be morally justified in launching an immediate counter-attack. Israel is not worried about an Iranian counter-attack because their plan is to pile up lots and lots of American kids as bullet-stoppers to protect their precious Israeli soldiers and despite being clearly in the wrong, the US Government seems to be perfectly happy to provide said American children bullet stoppers in exchange for some generous donations to their re-election campaigns.

There is a word for this plan by the US Government to take your children and sell their services to a foreign owner, and that word is “slavery.”

So, it is clear that the US government is unable and unwilling to stand up to Israel lust for conquest (as long as someone else’ kids bleed for it). Fine. Let Israel attack Iran by themselves and let Israel deal with the consequences by themselves. And on the day the US Government demands we send our children to defend Israel from Iran’s righteous wrath, that should be the day we fire this government, and replace it with one that will value our children’s lives more highly than those of Israel.

Despite Israel’s rulers pushing for an attack on Iran, intelligence does not recommend it, Thomas R. Pickering, former US Ambassador to Israel, told RT. It is mutual distrust between Iran and the US that stalls the diplomatic settlement, he believes.

**RT gives this Ambassador a tough time.:) Well done!!

AIPAC Pushing for War With Iran? (Jewish Voice for Peace featured)

It’s annual tradition…more than 13,000 people gathering in the nation’s capital for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual conference. AIPAC is considered to be one of the most powerful lobbying groups in America, and they hold the conference each year showcasing American-Israeli unity. But just how much power the group has over U.S. foreign policy stirs controversy. Protesters outside the convention center say Israel and AIPAC are dragging America into war with Iran. They’re also protesting the lobbying group’s enormous impact on U.S. politics.

Obama, AIPAC And The Rest of US

Yesterday at AIPAC annual conference, the American president had to go out of his way to appease his Jewish crowd. He used every trick in the book, he even peppered his talk with some Yiddish sporadic words and he did it all just to justify his decision not to launch a World War as yet.

One should ask, how come a lobby of a small state that practices the most appalling racist expansionist politics and practices has managed to gain so much political power in the USA.

There is never really just one reason to go to war there’s a lot of overlapping agendas. We know from the US governments point of view they need a major war to distract from the already ongoing wars and the economic disaster which as we understand is about to get a lot worse so they need a war to basically get away from that and that is the historical pattern. – Rivero
