American Jews are anything but monolithic. More dovish groups, like J Street, are trying to make a case against a pre-emptive Israeli strike. But for the next few days, Aipac will set the tone for an intense debate over the Iranian nuclear threat.
Another EEEEEVIIIIIL Iranian!!!!!!!!!!!
New York Times reports that Netanyahu’s visit to Washington sees campaign being mounted by Israel’s US supporters with public pressure being put on president over his stance on Iran
So, when your children, your husbands, your wives, your brothers and sisters, are shipped back home to you in bloody pieces packed into a cheap metal box and draped with a US flag made in China, you will understand just who sent them to their horrible deaths.
Update: Obama is speaking to AIPAC right now, and sending mixed messages. While he is doing the expected bend-over-and-spread-them to win votes and financial support from Israel’s minions, his tough talk regarding Iran did include signals that hs is not willing to go to war right this moment )before the November elections). The presstitutes are admitting this is a mixed message but seem intent on emphasizing the pro-war aspects. Right now the Israeli foreign minister is trying to explain why Obama’s comment that Israel must have the ability to protect itself by itself as meaning the continuance of American kids fighting Israel’s wars.
While Israeli leaders historically have enjoyed significant influence with their U.S. counterparts, Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu will likely arrive at the White House next week with a little extra boost in his efforts to get President Barack Obama to toughen his already hard line against Iran.
The extra boost on this visit is provided by growing concerns over the convergence of steadily rising oil prices – and jitters in the oil market over mounting tensions between Israel and Iran – with the November elections here.
“The most dangerous scenario would be if the Iranians were to retaliate against some of the Gulf states either because one or more let (the Israelis) overfly their territory or another reason,” Ebinger told IPS.
I am watching and listening to Obama’s speech to AIPAC this morning as I type this, and I have the singular, sinking feeling that Obama will cave to Netanyahu and order the US military to attack Iran and very soon.
And please remember: it will not be Israeli kids who will fight, get maimed for life, and potentially die in such an attack against Iran: it will be American kids who will fight, get maimed for life, and potentially die in such an attack against Iran.
As many of you know, AIPAC is holding its annual conference this weekend at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to be the keynote speaker on Monday.
Sure to be on his agenda is Iran’s nuclear program with the ultimate fate of Israel hanging in the balance. Of course this is pure fabrication. Israel has nuclear weapons and the capability to defend itself. Meanwhile, Iran presents no threat, imminent or otherwise, to Israel.
Dear Mr. Neyanyahu. If you truly feel that you need to make war on Iran, help yourself. Here is a rifle, here is a parachute, here’s a helmet. We ran out of the desert camo but we have lots of left over bright orange jumpsuits from Abu Ghraib. Watch your step climbing into that transport aircraft, and we’ll call Tehran and tell them you are on your way to kick their butts all by yourself!
But after those whoppers you told us all about Saddams’ nuclear weapons, you will forgive us if we keep our children safe at home. Israel has a poor history of telling friend from foe and you might shoot them yourself!
Exuding confidence, Mr Netanyahu effectively brings with him an ultimatum, demanding that unless the president makes a firm pledge to use US military force to prevent Iran acquiring a nuclear bomb, Israel may well take matters into its own hands within months.
The threat is not an idle one. According to sources close to the Israeli security establishment, military planners have concluded that never before has the timing for a unilateral military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities been so auspicious.
But with Syria preoccupied by a near civil war and Hamas in recent weeks choosing to leave Iran’s orbit and realign itself with Egypt, Iran’s options suddenly look considerably more limited, boosting the case for war.
Memo to President Obama, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and all the US Congressional attendants to the upcoming AIPAC conference: the American people have grown sick, tired, and angry at the cost, in American blood and American money, Israel consistently demands be sacrificed upon the altar of ultimate Israeli hegemony in the Middle East.
They see this rabid rush, on the part of US Congressional Representatives,to put the needs and desires of a foreign government ahead of American needs and concerns, dangerously close to treason.
There are many times when the desired outcomes of the Israeli government conflict intensely with those desired by the American people; enabling Israel for a war against Israel is absolutely one of those times, and may well be a career-ender for American politicians in an election year, if in fact elections are not suspended.
Such a war could go very badly for the US government, if the war is not blitzkrieg-like in nature, and drags out. The US government doesn’t have the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to endure a sustained campaign.
Add to the mix the reality that the leadership of nuclear-armed Russia, China, and Pakistan have stated publicly that they will assist Iran if it is attacked, and you have the potential for a global nuclear war over an alleged Iranian weapons program which cannot, to date, be proven to exist.
Israel is attempting to ameliorate such threats, at least with Russia, by offering a partnership with Gazprom in two large oil fields, but it remains to be seen if this will be accepted as the “payoff” to prevent Russia from aiding Iran militarily should it be attacked.
Russia’s Gazprom, the world’s biggest energy conglomerate, is reportedly sending top executives to Israel to discuss a partnership in the country’s offshore gas fields, a move likely to heighten tension over an energy bonanza in the eastern Mediterranean. Ynet, the English-language Web site of Israel’s Yediot Ahronot mass-circulation Hebrew daily, said a Gazprom team has scheduled meetings with the consortium that made major strikes in 2009-10 and expects to make more. This consists of the Noble Energy Inc. of Houston and Israel’s Delek Group headed by tycoon Yitzhak Tshuva. Obama administration officials are escalating warnings that the U.S. could join Israel in attacking Iran if the Islamic republic doesn’t dispel concerns that its nuclear-research program is aimed at producing weapons.
Four days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to arrive in Washington, Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz told reporters the Joint Chiefs of Staff have prepared military options to strike Iranian nuclear sites in the event of a conflict.
“What we can do, you wouldn’t want to be in the area,” Schwartz told reporters in Washington yesterday.
Every time I see the war drums beat ever more loudly and rapidly toward the US enabling Israel for a military attack against Iran, it’s like watching a slow-motion train wreck, caused not by design and planning, but by callous recklessness.
If Obama buckles this week to Netanyahu’s demands, it will be a career-ender for his political ambitions, and here is why. The American people have grown sick, tired, and angry at the cost, in American blood and American money, Israel constantly demands be sacrificed upon the altar of potential ultimate hegemony in the Middle East.
Unless this military strike is a blitzkrieg, executed to absolute perfection, the US government doesn’t have the military troop force strength, the money, or the manufacturing to sustain an extended campaign at all, and could go very, very badly for the US. There could be some horrifically catastrophic unintended consequences, courtesy of American and Israeli hubris.
Additionally leadership of nuclear-armed Russia, China, and Pakistan have publicly stated that should Iran be attacked, they will come to its aid militarily.
So what we have here is the potential for a global thermonuclear war over an alleged Iranian weapons program, which cannot,to date, be proven to exist!

Are we on the verge of World War Three simply because Israel is jealous of Iran?
Gareth Porter an American historian, investigative journalist and policy analyst on U.S. foreign and military policy.joins Daily Paul Radio with Kurt Wallace for ‘Debunking the Washington DC Voodoo of Anti-Iran Propaganda’ to discuss the build up against Iran by the US Government. Additionally, we discuss the US Media’s failure to report accurately as to Iran’s willingness to comply with the IAEA. Mr. Porter also exposes the power brokers pushing for War with Iran.
Maybe it is just envy. Israel’s arrogant self-image of being “God’s chosen” tolerates no challengers. Any nation richer than Israel must be destroyed. Any nation with more beautiful buildings than Israel must be destroyed. Any nation with more beautiful people than Israel must be destroyed. Any nation with more ancient artifacts than Israel must be destroyed. And so on and so on and so on.
Israel reminds me of the Bill Murry character in the following Saturday Night Live sketch.
“Under the Nuremberg Principles, later incorporated into the United Nations Charter, to which the United States is a signatory, the planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression, which is defined as a war started against another nation that does not pose an imminent threat of attack on the aggressor nation or nations, is the highest of war crimes, for which the perpetrators are liable for the death penalty. Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment of any of those above acts is an equally serious capital crime.”
How then to explain the casual way that civilian and military leaders of the United States and Israel are talking openly about plans and threats to attack Iran?

Even though Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has expressed a willingness to restart nuclear talks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the international community should not fall into the “trap” of renewing talks with Iran.
Netanyahu also stated that he would not set any “red lines” which would trigger a military response, a statement echoed by the Obama administration during the March 2 White House Press Briefing…
