THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!
Defense Intelligence Agency director Lt. Gen. Ronald Burgess told a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee that Iran is unlikely to initiate any war and would only respond if it were attacked.
In other words, beneath the unrelenting attempts to brand Iran as an aggressor that must be stopped from imminently acquiring nuclear weapons, the assessment of US intelligence is that Iran would only act militarily if attacked and is not even close to challenging Israel’s regional monopoly on nuclear bombs.
I would rather suggest that, should these propaganda escalations ultimately lead to war, the upcoming cost in American blood and American money will be considered by Israeli leadership as a reasonable, and necessary, sacrifice upon the altar of ultimate Israeli hegemony in the Middle East.
And it is that hubristic attitude, roughly translating as “Americans need to fight and die to neutralize Iran so Israelis don’t have to” I find infuriating in the extreme on the part of Israeli leadership.
In light of the fact that Chinese and Russian officials have gone public in stating that if Iran is attacked by either/or the US and Israel, they will come to Iran’s aid militarily, we are looking at the potential for a full-bore, global nuclear war.
A war of that magnitude will not be viewed from the comfort of a living room, watching as remote places far away get bombed to smithereens, but in cities and neighborhoods where we live, work, and worship.
I would really like to hope that those in the bowels of power in DC and Tel Aviv opt for a far more reasonable approach, rather than indulge in another military misadventure to neutralize yet another of Israel’s alleged existential threats in the region.
GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum warned North Dakota on Wednesday that it was in the cross-hairs of an Iranian attack.
A resident of South Dakota asked why Iran would bother and Santorum is rumored to have replied, “well ….. just …. ummmmm … just … just … just … BECAUSE! That’s why!”
The Jews and modern day Romans in Washington want to wage war against Persia.
Why are these fools and maniacs so obsessed about Iran? Iran is not an aggressive or belligerent nation. Iran is not anti-Jewish or anti-American. As Washington’s Blog writes, “Depsite the Hysteria, Experts Say that Iran Poses Very Little Threat to the West or Israel.”
Lt. Gen. Ronald Burgess, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, told Congress on Thursday that, “Iran is unlikely to initiate or intentionally provoke a conflict.” That is from the horse’s mouth, not a fringe conspiracy theorist.
Pakistan has pledged to support Iran if the US launches a military attack against the Islamic Republic. The Pakistani president assured the Iranian leader that his country’s territory will not be used as a launch pad for such an assault.
“The earth turns, but we don’t feel it move. And one night you look up. One spark and the whole sky is on fire.” – From “Gangs of New York.” (2002, Director Martin Scorsese, Screenwriters Jay Cocks, Steven Zaillian, and Kenneth Lonergan).
So far, 2012 is living up to the hype. It is shaping up to be one of the most consequential years in human history.
Right now, it is one minute before midnight, and the world is on the brink of total war. There will be no end to the violence and anarchy without dialogue and diplomacy.
But the terrorists in Washington and Tel Aviv are dead set against dialogue. They are turning to dirty tricks, false flag terrorism, fearmongering, and world war. They want to write history with blood. But victory is not in their sights.
— The United States is urging the European Union to block Iranian banks’ access to SWIFT, the global interbank transfer network, to step up pressure on Tehran, a US official said Thursday.
The US Treasury’s sanctions chief David Cohen raised the issue in talks in Brussels earlier this month, the official said, as Washington, Europe and their allies seek to isolate Iran to force it to halt its alleged nuclear weapons program.
“While there he discussed the issue of SWIFT providing services to designated Iranian banks and urged the EU to take action on the issue,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Memo to US Treasury’s David Cohen: Iran cannot stop what it is not doing.
And sir, so far, in every IAEA inspection report, there is zero evidence of any nuclear material reported diverted for anything which could remotely be construed as a weapons program.
So if you, in your capacity as a US treasury “drone”, know something which has not been shared with the American people or the world, in the immortal words of Janet Napolitano, if you see something, say something!
Of course, you cannot, because no such nuclear weapons program exists.
And as to pressing the EU to close the SWIFT network to Iran: as long as Iran has oil to sell, imaginative Iranians, and others, will figure out a way to make that happen, whether it be through SWIFT, or through the creation of a system which bypasses SWIFT completely.
The copy read: “As investigators unearthed new evidence implicating Iran in the attacks this week in Thailand, India and Georgia, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran announced Wednesday what he said was his country’s latest nuclear advance, and Iran’s Oil Ministry threatened to preempt a European oil embargo by cutting off sales to six countries there.”
But then there’s the New York Times. It continues to mislead its readers, albeit with a new weasel word inserted to avoid being accused of completely misstating the facts. In a news article on Wednesday, the Times reported that “the United States, Europe and Israel have all called [Iran’s nuclear] program a cover for Iranian efforts to develop nuclear weapons capability, an accusation that Iran denies.”
The key weasel word now is “capability,” which is a very elastic concept since any work on nuclear research for peaceful purposes, such as low-level enrichment of uranium, could theoretically be used toward a weapons “capability.” (The word also appeared in the Post editorial.)
Though Iran is enriching uranium, Panetta explained, they have not demonstrated any intention of building a bomb

Iran has the ability to fire missiles at U.S. targets in the Middle East and “temporarily” close a key sea transit route, a senior intelligence official said Thursday.
Tehran has a missile arsenal capable of reaching “targets throughout the region and into Eastern Europe,” Lt. Gen. Ronald Burgess, Defense Intelligence Agency director, told the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Since becoming an Islamic Republic in 1979, Iran has not invaded or tried to conquer anyone. Neither the US nor Israel can make the same claim.
It does not matter what Iran is able to do, what matters is what they actually do, and Iran is not going to fling missiles at anyone unless it is in self-defense, because such missiles (or the highly propagandized “Iranian” terror attack) would justify the Iran is trying to avoid.
