THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

“I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale.” –Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816.”We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.” — David Rockefeller, Speech given at Bilderberg meetingm, 1991

Woman says she’s runaway, wasn’t killed in Syrian custody

Zainab Alhusni, the young woman reportedly slain and mutilated while in Syrian custody, appears to be very much alive.

The US was using Zainab to sell war with Syria, so now that it turns out her story of mutilation was as much a fantasy as Kuwaiti incubators and Saddam’s nuclear weapons, Russia and China are the international heroes for blocking the US Syrian resolution at the UNSC!

Quantitative easing by the Bank of England: printing more money won’t work this time

So, the Bank of England has done more QE, implying that it thinks the banking sector may be about to collapse, inducing money stock contraction. The Chancellor has announced credit easing, implying that he thinks the banking sector may be about to collapse, meaning alternative lending routes would be useful. I guess we shall find out soon whether they are right.

Over 5,000 Turn Out in Portland For Occupy Portland Protest

In what may well be the biggest opening day crowd for all the Occupy Protests around the country, the Occupy Portland Protests have kicked off with over 5,000 protesters marching through the streets!

Chanting many different slogans including, “End the Fed” the protesters have marched through downtown Portland and ended up at Pioneer Square.

Occupy Wall Street Vs. Erin Burnett: A Primer In Media Failure

Yesterday, Salon’s Glenn Greenwald did a fairly masterful job filleting the myopic and condescending way CNN’s new hire Erin Burnett chose to cover the ongoing Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. Greenwald is hardly alone in his criticism. The Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik did much the same, saying, “Two of the fundamental attributes of good journalism are curiosity and a respect for the people on whom you report. Burnett got an “F” on both those counts with her Occupy Wall Street piece.” Yesterday, I pointed to Jay Rosen, who highlighted short-lived tweets from CNN’s Alison Kosik, documenting the fact that the failings Zurawik notes appear to be systemic at CNN.

This bill never became law. This bill was proposed in a previous session of Congress. Sessions of Congress last two years, and at the end of each session all proposed bills and resolutions that haven’t passed are cleared from the books. Libya conflict: Muammar Gaddafi urges mass protests

Libya’s ousted leader Col Muammar Gaddafi has called on Libyans to come on to the streets “in their millions” to resist the nation’s interim leaders.

In an audio message broadcast on Syrian-based Arrai television, he says conditions in Libya have become “unbearable”.

The message comes as heavy fighting continues between anti-Gaddafi forces and loyalists for the city of Sirte.

Dexia Bank – Shares Halted Amid Massive Decline

Shares of French-Belgian bank Dexia were halted pending a news release, according to NYSE Euronext. Shares in Brussels fell more than 17% before they were halted. Earlier, Dexia said it has entered into negotiations with a group of investors to sell off its Luxembourg unit. Before shares were halted, Bloomberg News reported that Dexia planned to break itself up to protect its Belgian depositors and its municipal-lending business in France. The Wall Street Journal cited local news reports that the Belgian government was moving to nationalize the bank’s domestic unit.

Did Ahmadinejad really say Israel should be ‘wiped off the map’?

The firestorm started when Nazila Fathi, then the Tehran correspondent of The New York Times, reported a story almost six years ago that was headlined: “Wipe Israel ‘off the map’ Iranian says.” The article attributed newly elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s remarks to a report by the ISNA press agency.

The article sparked outrage around the globe, with then-President George W. Bush and other world leaders condemning Ahmadinejad’s statement. The original New York Times article noted that Ahmadinejad said he was quoting Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution, but that aspect was largely overlooked.

Which Israel is already on the verge of doing, and will do when #OccupyAMERICA cuts off the billions of foreign aid and the US Veto at the Security Council.

Obama Has Now Increased Debt More than All Presidents from George Washington Through George H.W. Bush Combined

The Obama administration passed another fiscal milestone this week, according to new data released by the Treasury Department. As of the close of business on Oct. 3, the total national debt was $14,837,099,271,196.71—up about $44.8 billion from Sept. 30.

That means that in the less-than-three-years Obama has been in office, the federal debt has increased by $4.212 trillion–more than the total national debt of about $4.1672 trillion accumulated by all 41 U.S. presidents from George Washington through George H.W. Bush combined.

Failed State: As defined by food stamp use

The party of the plutocrats is marked by its loathing for many things, among them food stamps. If you search the public record over the past two years it’s clear the Republican Party, as it exists now, thinks people on food assistance are vermin.

From Newt Gingrich to Ted Nugent, it is abundantly clear.

DD came up with some eye-popping statistics to frame the astonishing number of people on food stamps in our nation.

By itself, the number is huge. Still, it becomes even more depressing when the magnitude of it is put in context.

NY judge won’t find CIA in contempt over tapes

A federal judge declined Wednesday to find the CIA in contempt for destroying videotapes of Sept. 11 detainee interrogations, saying to do so would serve no beneficial purpose and the CIA had put in place new procedures to prevent such destruction from happening again.

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein said in a written ruling that the CIA has since remedied its failure to produce videotapes in response to requests by the American Civil Liberties Union. He wrote that the people processing the ACLU’s Freedom of Information Act request may not have been aware of the videotapes’ existence before they were destroyed.

CNN’s New Star Is a Little Too Sympathetic to Wall Street

CNN’s newest primetime anchor Erin Burnett isn’t making any friends among the Occupy Wall Street protesters. In a visit to the front lines of the movement earlier this week Burnett grilled protesters on the specifics of their outrage, many say, from a point-of-view that’s not befitting of a network that’s often boasted of it’s objective journalism. However, Burnett’s combative tone in her “Seriously” segment on Tuesday night–on top of a deleted tweet by business reporter Alison Kosik in which she makes fun of the protesters–is dismaying press critics and CNN viewers alike. On top of that, journalism watchdog group FAIR says that, Burnett misreported the facts in an attempt to make the protesters look uninformed.

#OccupyCNN!

Occupy DC is coming.

Groups including Veterans for Peace are set to begin an occupation of Washington, DC Thursday. A message posted on the organizers’ website explains, “October 2011 marks the start of the 11th year of the invasion of Afghanistan and the onset of the 2012 US federal budget, which provides unlimited funds for war and corporate welfare, yet withholds essential funds for services that meet human needs.” Organizers plan to hold “People’s Assemblies” to discuss ways out of the wars and the economic crisis. Thousands are expected to take part in the occupation at DC’s Freedom Plaza a short distance from Capital Hill and the K Street lobbyist hub.

Secret panel can put Americans on “kill list’

Libyans Resist NATO’s Killing Machine

For over six and a half months, Libyans tied down the world’s mightiest military force despite overwhelming odds against them and enormous loss of life and human suffering.

Established in 1949, NATO was never a “military alliance for peace and security.” It was for offense, not defense. Cold War hysteria was contrived to incite fear and assure an arms race for corporate dominance and enrichment.

Twenty years after Soviet Russia dissolved, NATO interventions under US control threaten world peace and humanity, lurching from one war to another.

Palestinians Protest Israeli Prison Hell

Israel treats Palestinian prisoners horrifically. In detention, interrogations include torture, intimidation and other abuses.

“Security prisoners” are punitively isolated for extended periods. Others for any reason or none at all face similar short or longer-term treatment.

Administrative detainees are held indefinitely without charges or trial. Children are treated like adults.

The Killing Fields: Where Government Grows

Saudi silence on Israeli-seized islands

Saudi Arabia and the Western states have kept silent for decades regarding the occupation of two Saudi western islands by the Israeli regime.

Israeli forces reportedly occupied Saudi Arabia’s Tiran and Sanafir Islands in 1967.

The two islands are located at the southern end of the Gulf of Aqaba, leading to the Red Sea.

Tiran Island, which has an area of about 80 square kilometers, is located at the inflow of the Straits of Tiran. Sanafir Island, with an area of 33 square kilometers, also lies to the east of Tiran.

The two islands were given to the former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser for logistics use in the Six Day War of 1967 against Israeli forces.

However, the islands have been occupied by Tel Aviv since Egypt’s defeat.

NATO’s Missile Defense Backfires

On September 5, 2011, Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansor, sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, rejecting Israeli claims on the maritime border between the two countries. Those became important because since 2009 four major fields of natural gas have been found between Israel and Lebanon, in the Mediterranean Sea. Their names are Leviathan, Tamar, Sarah and Myra. Worldwide, they form one of the largest gas reserves found in the last decade. Moreover, Norway-based Petroleum Geo-Services recently announced promising results on the Lebanese side of the border. The map above shows the reason for the controversy.

Noam Chomsky: Join us in Trafalgar Square on 8 October

The Antiwar Mass Assembly on Saturday continues to attract high
profile pledges, the latest from Noam Chomsky and others who have
issued the following statement:

After 10 years of war in Afghanistan, more than 100,000 Nato
troops remain and tens of thousands have died. Government claims
that the war is contributing to Britain’s stability look
increasingly hollow. Opinion polls suggest the majority of
Britons want a speedy withdrawal of British troops, a view
recently endorsed by the trade unions. Politicians have to get in
step with public opinion and announce a date to bring troops
home. We will be attending the mass anti-war assembly this
Saturday 8 October in Trafalgar Square. We urge you to join us.

Germany prepares to delink from Euro and Prison Planet spins it as Nazis and Fourth Reich!

In other words, they wanted a plan for the Nazis’ return to power, and a “strong German empire”, or a Fourth Reich… through the creation of the EU.

We have been down this road before! In post WWI Germany, the German people slaved away under a private central bank imposed on them by the Treaty of Versailles. But then Germany abandoned the paper debt currency that had ruined their nation and changed to a government issued value-based currency to free themselves from the private central banks. The German economy blossomed! So great was the reversal that TIME Magazine made Adolf Hitler their Man Of The Year in 1938 for the “German Miracle.”

Click for larger image
But money-junkies, then as now, do not like nations which dare to have their own money and refuse to live in debt to the money-junkies! So the international bankers, fresh from their success at destroying the government-issued value-based dollar and replacing it with Federal Reserve Notes, in order to enslave the American people, decided they needed to wreck this upstart German currency before the rest of the world saw how well it worked. So the bankers declared a global boycott against Germany, to force them back into the clutches of private central banking!

Click for larger image

This boycott angered the German people, who had found a way out of the slavery of private central banking only to see the banks in other countries conspiring with the German private bankers to force them all back in. The German people, with the memories of Wiemar Republic inflation and imposed poverty were determined not to allow that to happen, and year after year the anger and resentment grew, until finally the stage was set for WW2, a war like all wars, of the private bankers, by the private bankers, and for the private bankers!

So here we are again! Germany has once again realized that private central banking, this time embodied in the ECB, is a permanent path to debt slavery, a realization that the American people are also coming to with regard to the Federal reserve system. And here comes the propaganda to demonize the new liberated Germany as ‘Nazis’ and ‘Fourth Reich’ in order to start ramping up yet another bloody global war to return all humans back into the slavery of the private central bankers.

Because there is a funny thing about these private central bankers throughout history. They don’t care if millions of people die horrible deaths so long as the survivors are all on permanent payment plans as a result!

The Database: Why Criminal Governments Spy On Citizens

Brandon Smith
Alt-Market

At the very foundation of perhaps every modern day conflict between the expansive powers of unchecked bureaucracy and the dwindling freedoms of the ordinary citizen dwells the vital issue of privacy. Privacy and the right to hold personal and political views without being singled out and scrutinized by government is absolutely essential to any society which dares to deem itself “fair and just”. Ultimately, without the presence of these two liberties, and without people to defend them, a nation is ill equipped to circumvent the growth of tyranny, and anyone claiming to be “free” in the midst of such a culture is living a delusion of the highest order…

Bank of England injects £75bn into economy in bid to kick-start recovery as interest rates are held at record low again

The Bank of England injected a further £75billion into the economy today in a bid to jump-start the UK’s flagging recovery.

Its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted to boost its quantitative easing (QE) programme – effectively printing more cash – from £200billion to £275billion despite the risks it poses to the country’s inflation rate.

Meanwhile, it maintained interest rates at 0.5 per cent.

The move – the first change to QE since November 2009 – offers the clearest signal yet that the Bank thinks Britain is on the brink of a double-dip recession.

Return to real money: China to install more than 2,000 gold ATMs

The return to real money is making swift gains as public distrust and uncertainty about the viability of fiat currencies continues to grow. And according to a recent report in Digital Journal, some countries, including China, are actually installing automated teller machines (ATM) that dispense gold bullion rather than paper currency.

What Henry Kissenger and the FBI knew about Cubana Flight 455 Bombing

Why didn’t the representative from the United States attend the 2010 Cubana memorial service in Barbados? Will the US attend in 2011?

Most of our readers from the United States of America probably have no idea of the roll that their government played in the bombing of a Cubana airliner full of innocent people. After all these years, many of the declassified documents from American government archives prove the US involvement.

Each of our good American readers owe it to themselves, to their country and to the world to investigate the Cubana bombing to the best of their ability. You can’t change what your government has done, and you probably can’t change the USA’s stonewalling of the truth – but you can know for yourself what the truth is…

35 years after the terror bombing of a Cuban airliner, the United States continues to protect the guilty.

‘Unprecedented’ Problems with Bank of America’s Web Site

Customers closing accounts after the announcement of the $5 per month EFT card fee?

There’s a bit of a movement underway to let Bank of America know how customers feel about that $5 fee. People are either emptying their accounts of funds, or closing their accounts completely. I’m very happy to say that my balance is now $26. haha.

The six days of online brownouts and slowdowns that have plagued Bank of America’s website are “unprecedented,” a leading Internet and mobile cloud monitoring service said today.

And So It Begins – The First Major European Bank Has Been Bailed Out And More Bailouts Are Coming

And so it begins. The first major European bank bailout of 2011 has now happened. French/Belgian banking giant Dexia has failed and both governments have pledged to participate in a rescue plan. But Dexia will not be the last major European bank to fail. Even now, governments all over Europe are feverishly developing plans to bail out major national banks in the event that the current financial crisis goes from bad to worse. Instead of learning the lessons of 2008, most major European banks have continued to pile up huge mountains of debt, leverage and risk. Now the bill for that stupidity is about to be passed on to the taxpayers of those nations.

Battle for Greece: ‘Politicians to loose control over Europe’

Greece’s latest 24-hour national strike turned violent – with police firing tear gas on angry crowds of protesters. The country all-but-ground to a halt as Greeks made their feelings known about the extra cuts they face so that the country can try and plug the massive 350-billion Euro debt. Greece’s financial paralysis is being worsened by the admission it won’t hit its budget targets. Economic analyst, Martin Hennecke, thinks the only way for Greece to survive is to default and start fresh

Webster Tarpley: Anwar Al-Awlaki, The CIA Lacky

American-born Al-Qaeda terror leader Anwar Al-Awlaki, who met with Pentagon officials months after 9/11, is by no means the only patsy handler the Central Intelligence Agency has used over the years to oversee false flag attacks in America and around the world. In fact, just about every major terror attack has been run by an operative with direct ties to the US military-industrial complex.

As we reported this morning, Awlaki, the man who helped plot the aborted Christmas Day bombing, the Fort Hood shooting, the Times Square bombing attempt, and who also preached to the alleged September 11 hijackers, dined at the Pentagon just months after 9/11 documents obtained by Fox News show.

Obama Admin Refuses To Offer ANY Proof Anwar Al Awlaki Was Involved In Terrorist Activity

This CIA lackey needed to be silenced. His value to the CIA diminished to the point that he was seen as a liability and a feather in the caps of those fighting the Fake War on Terror.

The Problem of Corruption

Less government equals less corruption. Companies will always seek government favors. … Therefore, the fewer rules, regulations, contracts, etc., government officials have the discretion to write, modify, or enforce, the less opportunity for corruption. The more transparent their actions and the more they have to lose, the better. Encouraging governments to employ fewer public servants with less power and more pay is a step in the right direction. However, targeting the right worm is also crucial.
